Route de la Dombes

La Dombes is often described as a huge clay plateau peppered with a thousand lakes that take the Bresse landscapes south to the edge of Lyon, overlooking the Saône Valley to the west and Ain Plain to the east.
But if you really know La Dombes then you know it's something more…
It's between air and water, heaven and earth. Beyond the silence, La Dombes has always echoed with lapping, singing, rustling and intermittent cries from the birds, fish and aquatic plants that call it home. The Tourist Route is your chance to explore it. Take a well-earned break at the Route's restaurants and sample lake produce: carp rillettes, smoked carp, carp fillet with sorrel, carp fillet in red butter and carp sausage with sorrel! These fabulous flavours have earned the Route de la Dombes the title of a Remarkable Food & Drink Site.
The Route was founded in 1987.
